Facility to serve as winter home for soccer club

(SIOUX FALLS, SD) – The Sanford Fieldhouse will serve as the new winter home of the Dakota Alliance Soccer Club.  The two organizations have a signed a 10-year deal effective immediately for the DASC to utilize the indoor facility located at the Sanford Sports Complex.

As part of the agreement, which provides usage from Nov. 1 to April 30 each year, Sanford will also provide year-round sports-medicine services to the DASC.

“On behalf of Dakota Alliance Soccer Club, I would like to thank Sanford Health for providing our soccer youth a state-of-the-art indoor training facility, which will expand the opportunities for our children,” said Naomi Dobson, president of the DASC.  “The arrangement for shared use of the facility will enable our organization to enhance soccer programs and increase awareness of the sport in our community and region.  We are honored to work with community-minded organizations like Sanford Health to plan out and take action on opportunities to serve the area in the coming years.”

The DASC is the merged community soccer organization made up of the former Sioux Falls Soccer Association, Great Plains Soccer Club and Dakota Gold Soccer Club.  Last year, more than 7,000 youth participated in soccer through the organization’s recreational and competitive programs.

The Fieldhouse features a turf surface nearly the size of a regulation soccer field.  The space is large enough to accommodate indoor games.  In addition to regular practice and training time, the DASC is allowed to host at least two regional tournaments in the venue every year.

“The Dakota Alliance is a perfect fit as a winter user of the Fieldhouse,” said Eric Larsen, executive director of the Sanford Sports Complex. “The partnership we’ve created with this collaboration will benefit both organizations, and we’re thrilled to be part of the further development of soccer in this region.”

The Fieldhouse is scheduled to open in September and will also be the home for the Sanford POWER program and the National Youth Sports Health and Safety Institute.  The structure is 85,000 square feet and sits on the west side of the Sanford Sports Complex, which is situated north of Ramkota along Westport Avenue between Benson Road and West 54th Street.

The Sanford Sports Complex also includes the under-construction Pentagon basketball facility and nine South Dakota Junior Football fields.  Future plans include additional venues for Sioux Falls ICE (hockey and figure skating) and Sioux Falls Tennis Association.
