SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Sanford POWER Riggs Football Academy has multiple camps this summer designed for athletes to improve their skills.
Sanford POWER Riggs Football Academy will host the 12th Annual SD Junior Football Summer Camp July 11-14 at the Sanford Fieldhouse. The camp will include full contact with emphasis on teaching proper tackling technique and feature competitive drills and games. Experienced coaches at all positions will teach concepts of team offense and defense along with fundamentals and skills that carry over to football season. Every athlete will receive a practice jersey.
Grades 2-5 will participate from 9 a.m. to noon. Grades 6-8 will participate from 1-4 p.m. Athletes should register based on their grade for 2017-2018. The cost is $145. The registration fee increases to $160 after June 25. Equipment checkout for all ages will take place on Sunday, July 9.
The Sanford POWER Riggs Football Academy will once again travel to Brookings for the second annual Brookings Premier Football Camp July 27-28. This camp is similar to the SD Junior Football Summer Camp, featuring full contact drills with emphasis on teaching proper tackling technique.
The camp is for grades 2-8 and will take place at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $75. The registration fee increases to $90 after July 17.
The Flag Football Summer Camp is scheduled for August 1-3 at the Sanford Fieldhouse from 10 a.m. to noon for grades K-6. The camp will focus on the fundamentals of flag football with both offensive and defensive skill development from experienced coaches. Athletes will compete in tournaments and games, and everyone will receive a t-shirt. The cost is $75. The registration fee increases to $100 after July 20.
Led by Kurtiss Riggs, Sanford POWER Football Academy provides year-round performance training options to individuals and teams for players ages 8 and older. The programs are tailored to each athlete and use personalized instruction to help each player reach his personal performance goals.
Professional staff has experience in all positions and areas of the game and help athletes learn the game, find the best position for their abilities and advance to an elite performance level. Players will learn the proper fundamentals and techniques to promote better play and safety.
